LET’S HEAR YOUR STORY
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes was tackled in the second quarter and barely got it off the field. It served as a reminder that Mahomes was playing Super Bowl LVII with a high ankle sprain. On third down, he was tackled and went down for a time. Slowly, he hobbled away. While writhing in anguish on the sideline, trainers glanced at him.
When the Eagles converted a field goal to finish the first half, it appeared like Mahomes would suffer another Super Bowl loss. The Eagles lead the Chiefs by ten points at halftime and had completely outplayed them. Eagles supporters screamed "MVP!" after Jalen Hurts scored his second touchdown run of the day.
A high-scoring Super Bowl
In many Super Bowls, the teams use the first quarter to feel each other out. The offenses play it conservatively, not wanting to make a mistake.
That was not the case for Super Bowl LVII. The Eagles, spreading the field and passing most plays, scored on the first drive. Jalen Hurts got into the end zone on a quarterback sneak. The Chiefs came right back and scored on an 18-yard catch from Travis Kelce. It was the second Super Bowl in history in which both teams scored touchdowns on their opening drive. The only other time that happened was Super Bowl XXXII between the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos.
The scoring didn't slow down too much after that. Hurts hit A.J. Brown on a pretty 45-yard touchdown pass. The Chiefs got a gift when Hurts lost a fumble that came out of his hands, and linebacker Nick Bolton recovered it and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown.
A tight game in the 4th
The Chiefs took the lead early in the fourth quarter. The Eagles had a breakdown and Kadarius Toney was wide open for a 5-yard touchdown. After the extra point, the Chiefs led 28-27.
Toney made an enormous play after that. The Chiefs forced a three-and-out. Toney took the punt return, reversed field to his right and took it 54 yards to the Eagles' 5-yard line. On another third down, the Chiefs ran the same play as the Toney touchdown but to the left side and to rookie Skyy Moore. Moore was wide open, just like Toney, for a touchdown.
Throughout the regular season, the Eagles had not been put to the test. In their first two playoff games, they usually blasted away their opponents and nobody came close. The Eagles, on the other hand, came through when they needed a strong drive. DeVonta Smith broke away and was wide open for a 45-yard reception that set up another Hurts touchdown sneak. With 5:15 remaining, the Super Bowl was knotted again, 35-35, thanks to Hurts' 2-point conversion run.
Mahomes was designed for the circumstance he was in. The Chiefs began to move the ball downfield, and Mahomes, who had been plainly hampered earlier in the game, scrambled up the middle for 26 yards. A holding penalty on third down against Eagles CB James Bradberry effectively clinched the Chiefs' victory. The Eagles intended to allow the Chiefs to score, but Jerick McKinnon slipped before the goal line, forcing the Eagles to utilize their last timeout. Mahomes took the knee twice to run down the time. Butler comfortably kicked a 27-yard field goal with eight seconds remaining. With Mahomes, the Chiefs had to come back in the fourth quarter to win their first Super Bowl. Sunday may not be the last time he does it.

Daniel Weinman won the World Series of Poker's main event world championship on Monday in Las Vegas, earning $12.1 million along the way. Playing in the tournament for a 16th year, Weinman was tops in a deep pool of 10,043 players vying for $93.39 million. His victory came after just 164 hands at the final table. "I was honestly on the fence about even coming back and playing this tournament," the 35-year-old Atlanta native told reporters afterward. Weinman's final table featured Jan-Peter Jachtmann, who landed in fourth place and took home $3 million, as well as Toby Lewis, who finished seventh and secured $1.42 million. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the main event's entry pool far outpaced the previous record of 8,773 set in 2006. "I've always kind of felt that poker was kind of going in a dying direction, but to see the numbers at the World Series this year has been incredible," Weinman said. "And to win this main event, it doesn't feel real. I mean, [there's] so much luck in a poker tournament. I thought I played very well." Steven Jones finished second, securing $6.5 million. And Adam Walton settled for third and a $4 million prize.
