The Yankees game against the Arizona Diamondbacks scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to the forecast of sustained inclement weather, the team announced.
The game between the Yanks (78-76) and D-backs (81-73) will be rescheduled for a game at Yankee Stadium, but the date for that game has yet to be determined. The two teams do not share a mutual off-day over the season’s final eight days.
While the result means little for the Bronx Bombers in terms of the standings as they find themselves 7.0 games out of the American League Wild Card race and eight games to play, Arizona currently occupies the second National League Wild Card spot and is 1.0 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs for the final spot and 2.0 and 2.5 ahead of the Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds, who entered Saturday on the outside looking in.
With the Yankees’ last day off coming Monday while the D-backs are playing in Chicago, it is possible the game is not made up unless the result has NL postseason implications.
If rain washes out Sunday's game, MLB could force Arizona to play a doubleheader in New York on Monday and a doubleheader in Chicago with the Diamondbacks having a day off on Thursday.
The two teams are scheduled to play a 1:35 p.m. start on Sunday with RHP Clarke Schmidt (9-9, 4.65 ERA) and Zac Gallen (16-8, 3.60 ERA) the originally announced pitchers.
The Yankees made the announcement five hours before the scheduled 1:35 p.m. first pitch. The Yanks were scheduled to pitch left-hander Carlos Rodon (3-6, 5.90 ERA) to the mound against RHP Zach Davies (2-5, 6.81 ERA).
Saturday's game was going to be the "Aaron Judge #62 Bobblehead" giveaway for the first 18,000 at the ballpark, and that promotion has been rescheduled for a game next season, Saturday, April 20, 2024, against the Tampa Bay Rays
Daniel Weinman was crowned winner of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event on Monday, taking home a record breaking $12.1 million in winnings. Weinman had to outlast the other 10,043 entrants to take home the prize and get his hands on his share of live poker’s largest ever prize pool – a staggering $93,399,900. As well as taking home the prize money, 35-year-old Weinman also got his hands on the WSOP Main Event bracelet. The huge bracelet contains 500 grams of 10-karat yellow gold, as well as 2,352 various precious gemstones.

Playing in the tournament for a 16th year, Weinman was tops in a deep pool of 10,043 players vying for $93.39 million. His victory came after just 164 hands at the final table. "I was honestly on the fence about even coming back and playing this tournament," the 35-year-old Atlanta native told reporters afterward. Weinman's final table featured Jan-Peter Jachtmann, who landed in fourth place and took home $3 million, as well as Toby Lewis, who finished seventh and secured $1.42 million. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the main event's entry pool far outpaced the previous record of 8,773 set in 2006. "I've always kind of felt that poker was kind of going in a dying direction, but to see the numbers at the World Series this year has been incredible," Weinman said. "And to win this main event, it doesn't feel real. I mean, [there's] so much luck in a poker tournament. I thought I played very well." Steven Jones finished second, securing $6.5 million. And Adam Walton settled for third and a $4 million prize.
