The long-rumored Patrick Kane deal has finally been completed by the New York Rangers. After weeks of speculation, the New York Rangers acquired the superstar forward and defense prospect Cooper Zech from the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday in exchange for a conditional 2023 second-round selection, a 2025 fourth-round pick, and defender Andy Welinski. In the three-team transaction, the Blackhawks also obtained Vili Saarijarvi from the Coyotes, while Arizona received a 2025 fifth-round selection.
Kane has 16 goals and 29 assists in 54 games this season for Chicago. He has not played since February 22, opting to sit out while his future was being decided.
After being drafted first overall in 2007, the 34-year-old spent 16 seasons with the Blackhawks, scoring 446 goals and accumulating 1,225 points in 1,161 games. Kane led Chicago to three Stanley Cups in five seasons, from 2010 to 2015, including the game-winning goal against the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010.
"I'm so grateful to the city, the Blackhawks organization, my teammates, and the fans for all they've done for me and my family over the last 16 years - the support has been consistent from day one, and Chicago will always be home for us," Kane said in a statement.
"This has been a difficult moment for me and my family, but I believe this choice puts me in the best position to win another Stanley Cup right away. This isn't about me leaving the Blackhawks; rather, it's about an opportunity — the Blackhawks did everything they could to place me in a terrific position, for which I will be eternally thankful. It is difficult to leave a city that is so dear to me, but I will always cherish the memories we formed in Chicago."
Throughout his storied career, the nine-time All-Star has earned the Art Ross Trophy, the Hart Memorial Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award, the Conn Smythe Trophy, and the Calder Memorial Trophy. In 2017, Kane was voted one of the best 100 players in NHL history. He is in the final year of an eight-year, $84 million deal ($10.5 million AAV) he signed in July 2014.
Daniel Weinman was crowned winner of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event on Monday, taking home a record breaking $12.1 million in winnings. Weinman had to outlast the other 10,043 entrants to take home the prize and get his hands on his share of live poker’s largest ever prize pool – a staggering $93,399,900. As well as taking home the prize money, 35-year-old Weinman also got his hands on the WSOP Main Event bracelet. The huge bracelet contains 500 grams of 10-karat yellow gold, as well as 2,352 various precious gemstones.

Weinman's final table featured Jan-Peter Jachtmann, who landed in fourth place and took home $3 million, as well as Toby Lewis, who finished seventh and secured $1.42 million. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the main event's entry pool far outpaced the previous record of 8,773 set in 2006. "I've always kind of felt that poker was kind of going in a dying direction, but to see the numbers at the World Series this year has been incredible," Weinman said. "And to win this main event, it doesn't feel real. I mean, [there's] so much luck in a poker tournament. I thought I played very well." Steven Jones finished second, securing $6.5 million. And Adam Walton settled for third and a $4 million prize.
